Apple ID verification codes on my iPhone 6 Plus
Why can't I receive Apple ID verification codes on my iPhone 6 Plus? Running Sierra on my Mac Mini and my iPhone software is running 10.0.2

I checked the other post and while the question is the same I don't see a solution. Hopefully Apple is working on one.
There are similar threads which I can dig up for you (or you can do a rudimentary search) but if not, you can always reach out to Apple Support for a quicker solution.

I solved the problem. I went into the settings on my iPhone iCloud and turned on two-factor authentication and after entering my password then the verification code my phone now shows up and being able to get verification codes.

THANK YOU! This solved my issue. This is the most-un-Apple experience I've ever had within the Apple ecosystem. Worse, this process is not detailed in any of the Apple documents that return when searching ""This device cannot be used to receive Apple ID verification codes." I never would have stumbled upon this solution.
